Hello, I’m Lee Colony. I’m a writer, photographer, editor, designer, public relations practitioner, media coach — in essence, I hold the “creative” skills needed for a wide variety of uses, including publications. I am also a Christian and member of Layton Avenue Baptist Church in Greenfield, Wis.
We are undergoing a transformation in our church, fueled by a project encompassing the sale of our current church site at 9000 Layton Avenue and the building of a new church six blocks west. A string of amazing circumstances has allowed this to take place — too many to fail to see the hand of God involved.
One of those circumstances is that Builders for Christ, a national construction ministry, selected Layton Avenue Baptist as the church it would build this year. The group typically only selects one from across the United States, and this year it’s ours. That means 1,100 volunteers from across the United States will come to help us build our church.
This blog focuses on that construction and, more importantly, the people — those beacons of light — who have come here to work on our church in the name of the Lord. It will also focus on those beacons of light from our own church, as well.
Special thanks go out to Lawrence Corley.
